Ruth was a woman of a particular time and particular place, but of no particular consequence. She married a man from another country who had come to escape the famine in his own. But death soon took Ruth’s new husband as well as her brother and father-in-law. Left with only her new sister and mother-in-law, Ruth was given the opportunity to return home and re-join her kin but instead, she bravely clung to her mother-in-law and walked with her into a new and unfamiliar land.
Ruth’s faith, loyalty, and bravery got noticed and her story ends very well, inspiring us to follow in her footsteps. In life, we also experience loss, pain, and extreme uncertainty about the future. During these times, Jesus offers us the same choice given to Ruth. We can turn and run back to what feels safe and familiar or, as modern day Ruths, we can cling to the One we truly know and courageously step into the newness of life in Him. This ministry is dedicated to the journey from a fearful past to a faithful future and we seek to encourage many brave Ruths along the way.
‘And Ruth said, Do not intreat me to leave thee or to return from following after thee, for wherever thou goest, I will go; and wherever thou shalt lodge, I will lodge; thy people shall be my people and thy God my God.’
– Ruth 1:16
